This year marks a major milestone for Montego Pet Nutrition — 25 years of Classic, the brand that started it all. From humble beginnings in Graaff-Reinet to becoming a trusted name in pet nutrition across South Africa. Classic has been part of South African pets’ lives for over two decades.
To thank you for being part of our journey, we’re celebrating with a competition worthy of the occasion. One lucky winner will walk away with R1 MILLION in cash — and that’s not all. Ten more entrants will win R25,000 EACH!

The following terms and conditions (“Terms”) apply to all customers who enter the Montego Classic ‘Win a Million’ 25th Birthday Celebration Competition (“Competition”), conducted by Montego Pet Nutrition (Pty) Ltd. (“Montego”). Participation in, and entry to the Competition will be deemed as full acceptance of these Terms and an acknowledgment that the entrant has the legal capacity to enter. Customers who do not agree with the Terms should refrain from entering.
The terms related to risk, legal responsibilities, and liability below are important. They limit the liability of Montego and other parties and may affect your legal rights. Please read them carefully.
- Competition Duration
The Competition is open from 1 July to 3 November 2025.
- Who May Enter
The Competition is open to South African citizens and legal residents aged 18 years or older, and who possess a valid South African ID, or passport, and proof of residency.
- How to Enter
Participants may enter the Competition by purchasing any Montego Classic Dry Dog or Cat Food Product during the Competition Period. Each product purchased, regardless of package size, constitutes one entry.
Entrants may enter via:
USSD: Dial *120*84437# from a RICA-compliant mobile number and follow the prompts (Cost: 20c per 20 seconds), or
Online: Complete the entry form via the Montego website or by scanning the QR code on in-store marketing material (standard data rates apply).
- Entry Conditions
Entrants may enter multiple times.
Proof of purchase is required for all entries submitted. If drawn, the winner must provide receipts matching the number of entries submitted. Failure to do so will result in disqualification and a new winner will be drawn.
Entrants must use their own RICA-compliant mobile number. Entries made from another person’s number could result in disqualification.
Certain mobile contracts may not support USSD. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure their device can access USSD or enter online.
Entrants are responsible for entering accurate information.
- Prize Details
Grand Prize:
One Grand Prize winner will receive a prize to the value of R1,000,000.
The purpose and intent of the Grand Prize is to support and improve the winner’s personal circumstances and livelihood. The Grand Prize will be awarded to the winner with full discretion as to how they wish to use the funds; and Montego acknowledges and agrees that the winner has sole and absolute discretion over the use of the prize funds. Montego does not prescribe, restrict, or impose any conditions on how the winner must utilize the prize money.
Although, to assist the winner in making informed and responsible decisions regarding the use of the Grand Prize, Montego will make available the services of a qualified financial advisor. The winner may choose to consult with this advisor for guidance on managing and utilizing the funds effectively. However, the decision to seek or follow such advice remains entirely at the winner’s discretion.
By accepting the Grand Prize, the winner confirms that they understand and accept that Montego shall have no responsibility or liability regarding the winner’s decisions or outcomes resulting from the use of the Grand Prize.
Weekly Prize Draws:
There are also 10 runner-up prizes to the value of R25,000 each.
The 10 runner-up prizes of R25000 each will be drawn and awarded on 10 dedicated weeks, leading up to the Grand Prize draw. Each weekly draw will take place prior to the Grand Prize draw, ensuring that all 10 runner-up prizes of R25000 each are distributed before the Grand Prize is awarded.
Grand Prize and runner-up winners must have an active South African bank account to receive any disbursed funds via EFT. No cash or alternative transfer methods will be used.
- Social Media Campaign Bonus Prizes
South Africans may also participate in a number of social media competitions during the course of the campaign, by sharing their dreams. Ten winners will receive R2,500 in cash each. Winners will be selected based on creativity and alignment with campaign themes by an internal judging panel. Please keep an eye on our social media pages for more information.
- Winner Selection and Contact
Winners will be chosen by random draw, audited by an independent third-party and Colony Campaigns.
Winners drawn will be attempted to be contacted up to 3 business days following the draw. If unreachable, the winner/s forfeits the Prize and a new winner/s will be selected.
Winners will be contacted via the information provided on entry and announced via Montego’s official channels, including social media, M Magazine, and newsletters.
- Publicity & Media Consent
Montego reserves the right to request photographs, interviews, in person footage and follow-up calls from/to winners and, if applicable, immediate family members for use in public announcements and/or stories that may be used for social media and PR campaigns of the promoter. However, the decision to participate in such activities is strictly at the winner’s discretion.
- Eligibility Restrictions
The following individuals may not enter:
Employees, directors, agents, consultants, suppliers, or immediate family of Montego, its affiliates, subsidiaries, or advertising agencies.
Individuals connected to participating retailers or distributors.
- Product Availability
Entry is subject to the availability of Montego Classic Dry Food Products. Montego does not accept liability for stock shortages. Stock availability depends on participating retailers’ orders and preferences.
- Fraud & Technical Disclaimer
Any suspected fraudulent activity, manipulation, or tampering will result in disqualification.
Montego is not responsible for entries not received due to network failures, delays, or system errors.
- Personal Information
By entering, entrants consent to the collection and use of their Personal Information as defined by the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), solely for purposes related to the Competition.
Montego and its processors will take reasonable steps to protect this data in compliance with relevant laws.
Personal Information will be retained only as long as legally required.
- Amendments and Final Decisions
Montego reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the Competition or any aspect thereof at any time without prior notice.
Montego’s decision regarding any dispute is final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.
- Updates and Queries
Entrants are responsible for checking the Montego website during the Competition Period for any changes to these Terms.
