Western Cape
Overnight stay at Onrus
Onrus River Caravan Park offers pet-friendly camping. However, there are limitations on the number of pets allowed. High season runs from 1 December 1st to 31 January and low season from 1 February to 30 November.
Sitting on the coast in the Overberg District, you can explore the rock pools or take a well-deserved walk at the nearby lagoon. The flat, grassy camping stands are shielded from the sea breeze by milkwood trees. Each stand includes a braai facility and electrical points.

A seaside stroll and a snack
The Ramsgate Ramble offers a dog-friendly meander along a 5km stretch of pristine coastline between Ramsgate and Southbroom. Enjoy the intertidal zone which is rich in a variety of sea life and beautiful coastal flora. It is recommended that dogs are kept on-leash.

North West
Take up the challenge at Kranskloof
Kranskloof, near Rustenberg, offers a moderate to challenging hiking trail that adventurous pets and owners are sure to enjoy. The pet-friendly trail is 9km long, dotted with scenes of beautiful wildflowers, and overlooks a scenic valley. Be sure to keep your four-legged companions on-leash, and snack for them nearby.

Stretch your legs at Sardinia Bay Beach
Do unspoiled stretches of sand and crystal-clear waters appeal to you? Sardinia Bay beach, in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), boasts rock pools ready to be explored and an 8km hike surrounded by natural beauty.
During the migratory season, dolphin and whale watching are popular activities. There are picnic facilities on site, so pack a Classic On-the-Go bar and some refreshments for the humans, too. Canine companions must be kept on a leash.
